Act against corrupt AAP MLAs: Congress

New Delhi, July 12 (IANS) The Congress on Tuesday staged a protest against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal outside his residence and demanded action against corrupt AAP legislators and those facing charges of sexual harassment.

"We demand action against those MLAs whose names have appeared in the cases of sexual harassment, eve-teasing and domestic violence," senior Delhi Congress leader Barkha Singh Shukla told IANS.

"We demand action against the corrupt MLAs of the Delhi government," she added.

Congress leaders staged a protest outside the Delhi Chief Minister's house and also submitted a memorandum with Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung demanding action.

The Congress leader's remarks came following a number of cases filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders in the recent days.

Last week a case of eve-teasing and molestation was registered against AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal, who represents Deoli constituency from south Delhi. A case of sexual harassment was registered against AAP legislator Dinesh Mohaniya from Sangam Vihar last month.

Attacking, Delhi Women Commission chief Swati Maliwal, Shukla said, "She has failed to take any action against any of the AAP leaders accused in cases against women."

"She stays mum whenever an incident of wrongdoing emerges against AAP leaders. She has failed in doing their job of upholding dignity of women as such situation warrant a non-partisan approach," Shukla alleged.
