80-strong FICCI delegation accompanying Modi to Africa

New Delhi, July 6 (IANS) Industry chamber Ficci said on Wednesday that an 80-member delegation of business leaders will accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his official visit to four African nations beginning on Thursday to explore opportunities for Indian business in the continent.

"A contingent from diverse business sectors will accompany the Prime Minister and participate in the India-Tanzania Business Forum and India-Kenya Business Forum being organised by Ficci and its counterparts on July 10 and 11 at Dar-e-Salaam and Nairobi respectively," the industry body said in a release here.

"The momentum generated during the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit in October 2015 (New Delhi) is continuing," the statement added.

Modi will be visiting Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya from July 7 to 11.
FICCI said that while showcasing Indian industry capability in sectors like healthcare, low cost housing, power, construction, agriculture, transport, ICT and mining, "the businessmen would seek partnership from its Tanzanian and Kenyan counterparts for a long term engagement with a focus on local capacity building."

"During the visit, many MoUs are expected to be inked," the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry said.

The delegation, led by FICCI president Harshavardhan Neotia, includes industry leaders such as K.K. Modi, R.V. Kanoria, Sangita Reddy and Yaduvendra Mathur, it added.
