Bengaluru, July 3 (IANS) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) convened a meeting here on Sunday of all the stakeholders working with the national team, national developing sides, selectors, and senior staff of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to discuss the roadmap for the 2016-17 season.
National team head coach Anil Kumble, Test Captain Virat Kohli, One-Day Internationals & T20 Internationals captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India A and Under-19 chief coach Rahul Dravid, senior selection committee chairman Sandeep Patil, junior selection committee chairman W.V. Raman, and Narender Hirwani were among those who attended the meeting.
Others who were present were coaches at NCA along with Patrick Farhat (Physio, national team), Shankar Basu, (trainer, national eam), Andrew Leipus (Physio, NCA) and BCCI general manager M.V. Sridhar.
Issues ranging from domestic cricket set up, India-A tours, injury management and workload of the players and strengthening the bench strength of Indian cricket were discussed in detail to synchronise the efforts of everyone working for the betterment of Indian cricket.
Speaking on the meeting, President of the BCCI, Anurag Thakur said the "idea was to bring all the stakeholders on the same page as we draw the path for the upcoming season of Indian Cricket".
"Based on their discussions and recommendations, BCCI will plan the future accordingly. This kind of brainstorming sessions will be a regular feature to streamline our efforts to take Indian cricket to new heights," Thakur added.
Kumble remarked: “This was a very fruitful exercise. Sitting here, we all have one intention and agenda: To align our actions to maximize the potential of Indian cricket.
"For that we all need to work as one unit. I am thankful to the BCCI for organising such an initiative."
