Uttarakand asked to set up system to monitor central schemes


New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot on Friday urged Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat to set up a monitoring system in the state for effective implementation of central government schemes.

Rawat met Gehlot here on Friday and raised issues pertaining to post-matric scholarships for the Scheduled Castes students.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister also appraised the Union minister that the state government was making all efforts to see that scholarship accounts were linked with Aadhaar cards to ensure speedy reimbursement of the scholarship amounts to the students, said a Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment statement.

Assuring the commitment of the Centre for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes, Gehlot said the Union government has streamlined its scheme to ensure that the benefits reach all the beneficiaries.

He also assured all possible support to the state government for the implementation of central government schemes, read the statement.
