Shimla, July 1 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh saw heavy rains on Friday with Joginder Nagar recording the highest rainfall in the state at 165 mm, the Met office said. The showers are expected to continue till Sunday.
"Monsoon was aggressive in the state during the last 24 hours. Precipitation occurred at most places with very heavy rainfall in Mandi, Kangra and Solan districts," said an official of the meteorological office.
He said similar weather conditions are likely to continue in the state till Sunday.
Arki town in Solan district got 85 mm, while Baijnath in Kangra district received 45 mm and Sarkaghat in Mandi district 44 mm.
State capital Shimla got 22 mm rain.
A government spokesperson said the Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries are in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts.
