New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday launched 'Nivaran' portal, an online system for redressal of service-related grievances of serving and former Railway employees.
Speaking on the occasion, Prabhu said it was a new system which would also be launched in regional languages.
"The external grievance redressal portal is successful because of the work of railways employees. Today we are launching the portal for the grievance redressal of current and former railways employees. In the future we will launch this portal in regional languages also," he said.
Railways is the single biggest employer in the country with over 1.3 million strong workforce.
The new online system will facilitate the employees to lodge their grievances and also monitor the progress on their mitigation.
The system would also provide facility for lodging appeal to the higher authority in case the decision is not found satisfactory.
"Highest controlling authorities shall also be able to monitor the progress of grievance redressal by field offices," an official statement from the ministry said.
The application is developed by CRIS (Centre for Railways Information System), the IT arm of the Indian Railways.
The process for the application was designed by establishment directorate of the Railway Board which deals with staff matters.
