Bhubaneswar, June 29 (IANS) The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday expelled popular Odia cine actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy alias Papu Pom Pom following 'casting couch' charge against him.
"The BJD president (Naveen Patnaik) today (Wednesday) expelled Papu Pom Pom from the party," BJD General Secretary Debi Prasad Mishra said in a release here.
The Commissionerate Police lodged a case against Papu after a civil society organisation filed a complaint on behalf of a minor girl that he sexually exploited her by making false promise to give her a break in films.
Papu had unsuccessfully contested the Champua assembly set on a BJD ticket in 2014. He also campaigned extensively for the party in other constituencies.
Meanwhile, police has formed a special team to arrest the comedian who is reported to be missing and on the run.
