London, Jun 28 (PTI) Media mogul Simon Cowell is making a hard-hitting television crime series.
Cowell, 56, has become synonymous with TV talent shows such as "The X Factor" and "Britain's Got Talent".
But he is now hoping to find success in another field on the small screen, with his new series "The Investigator: A British Crime Story".
Cowell's company Syco has joined forces with former detective Mark Williams-Thomas, who was responsible for exposing paedophile Jimmy Savile, for the ITV series.
"Simon is very excited about producing some serious TV shows in a very different genre to The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent," a source said.
The show will be set over four episodes, and will combine "stylised drama with compelling documentary".
"The Investigator: A British Crime Story" will focus on the case of Carol Packman, who disappeared in 1985 from her home in Bournemouth and has never been found.
