Ranchi, June 28 (IANS) Unidentified criminals on Tuesday snatched Rs 29 lakh from a microfinance company's employee in Jharkhand capital Ranchi, police said.
The crime occurred when the employee carrying the cash arrived at Ashirwad Microfinance Company in Bariatu locality.
"I had withdrawn the cash from a bank. As I was climbing the office stairs, I saw a group of four to five people waiting there. One of them put a gun to my head and asked for the money. The criminals then escaped with the loot," said company employee Sugriv Sinh.
Police said they were trying to zero in on the criminals involved.
Police said people associated with businesses that involve carrying of huge cash are not following the safety guidelines.
"We have asked petrol pump owners and other businessmen to take security cover from police while carrying huge amounts of money, but they are hardly doing so," a police official told IANS.
