BJP MP demands North MCD Commissioner’s ouster

New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) BJP MP Vijay Goel on Tuesday said he has written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung to demand North Delhi Municipal Corporation Commissioner P.K. Gupta's removal for "incompetence and corruption".

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader accused Indian Administrative Service officer Gupta of promoting corruption in the North DMC.

He alleged that most complaints of corruption are related to transfer and posting and illegal construction.

Goel told the media here that Gupta neither was able to take decisions nor able to tackle his subordinates.

The Rajya Sabha member said: "The powers conferred upon the Commissioner are being used whimsically, especially where public interest in involved."

He claimed that illegal construction was going on in the national capital and Karol Bagh area was its main hub.

Goel demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Central Vigilance Commission into the matter.

The BJP leader said he will soon release a list of illegal constructions going on in Delhi.
