Gurgaon, June 25 (IANS) Two volunteers of the Gau Raksha Dal were shot at allegedly by beef smugglers on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, police said on Saturday.
Gurgaon Bajrang Dal convener Abhishek Gaur and Gau Raksha Dal volunteer Harpal Singh were injured when the smugglers opened fire. Both Gaur and Singh had chased a vehicle in which the smugglers were allegedly transporting beef.
Gaur has been admitted in a private hospital here on Sohna road. His condition is stable and he is out of danger.
Singh has been discharged from the hospital after treatment.
Gurgaon's Deputy Commissioner of Police Balwan Singh Rana visited the hospital to enquire about the injured.
Gau Raksha Dal volunteers alleged that the Expressway has become a haven for beef smugglers, as there is no police post or barricade on the road.
They also alleged that some police personnel could be hand in glove with the smugglers.
The DCP assured all possible help from the police department.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered against unknown persons at the Bilaspur police station.
