New Delhi, June 25 (IANS) The Delhi Police on Saturday detained AAP MLA from Sangam Vihar Dinesh Mohaniya when he was about to address a press conference here over a case related to voluntarily causing hurt.
"We have detained Mohaniya today (Saturday) for questioning after a case was filed against him for voluntarily causing hurt," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh told IANS,
"We tried to serve notice to him last (Friday) evening but he refused to accept that. He was also not cooperating with the police, so we had to detain him," the DCP said.
Mohaniya was detained when he was about to address a press conference at his residence.
A case was registered against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MlA for allegedly slapping an elderly man in Tughlakabad area of south Delhi on Friday.
Mohaniya had gone to meet locals who were distressed over the water supply issue in the area.
On Thursday Mohaniya was also booked for allegedly misbehaving with a group of women on Wednesday after they had gone to the MLA's residence-cum-office to complain about irregular water supply in the area.
Mohaniya is also the vice chairman of Delhi Jal Board.
