New Delhi, June 24 (IANS) Three persons, including a woman, were killed in the national capital within last 48 hours, police said on Friday, adding two of these cases occurred following petty issues.
In the first case, a 36-year-old man shot dead his wife and then committed suicide by shooting himself with the same pistol following a brief argument on Friday morning in west Delhi's Baba Haridas Nagar area.
A police officer said that Jagbir had visited the house of his in-laws around 7 a.m. to convince his wife Anita to return home. "When she refused to go with Jagbir, he shot himself after killing her. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared them dead "
The officer said that Anita had gone to her father's home a few days ago after a dispute with Jagbir over some issue.
In the second case, Santosh Maurya, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur, was found murdered inside his rented accommodation in south Delhi's Sarojini Nagar early on Friday.
Police suspect that Maurya, 24, who worked at a readymade garment shop in the Sarojini Nagar market, might have been killed by more than two persons who attacked his throat, hand and face with sharp-edged weapons.
Investigators said that Maurya lived in a room in the 70-room, four-storey building along with his two cousins, who were sleeping on the roof at the time of the incident.
"One of Santosh's cousins found his body lying in a pool of blood inside the room around 5.30 a.m. and raised an alarm," a police office said, adding they were probing the case from all possible angles including robbery and personal enmity.
In another incident, a 17-year-old boy was killed by his friend on Wednesday evening in west Delhi's Sagarpur after a brief argument between them while playing cricket.
Police said that Akash, 20, hit Shivam on the head with a cricket bat, injuring him grievously. Shivam was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed due to excess bleeding.
Investigators said that Akash, who was later arrested, got enraged with Shivam who accidentally hit his head with the ball while playing.
