Brainwavz Audio XFit XF-200: Wallet-friendly, fitness-focused earphones

By Anuj Sharma

New Delhi, June 23 (IANS) Brainwavz Audio, a Hong-Kong based audio company, has launched several good-quality audio products, including Brainwavz Blu 100, Blu 200 and Jive over the past few months with a dedicated focus on high-quality sound at a competitive price.

The newly-launched Brainwavz XFit XF-200 noise isolating earphones are ergonomically designed for users who are fitness freaks and frequently engage in sports and athletic activities.

On the specifications front, the Rs 1,699 XFit XF-200 houses a 9 mm dynamic driver, has impedance of 16 ohms and offers frequency response of 20 Hz-20 kHz.

Here's what works for the device.

Like other Brainwavz earphones, XFit XF-200 earphones are lightweight and feature a durable design ideal for use while exercising or jogging as the cable goes above your ears to provide a secure fit.

The three-button control built into the Y-shaped cable is easy to use even while working out and helps raise or lower the volume, skip tracks and to play/pause tracks. The earphone also includes a microphone for taking calls.

For extra and added comfort, the earphone comes with six sets of silicone ear tips (S M L), one set of bi-flange silicon ear tips along with a complimentary set of softer "Comply Foam" tips to let you find the best fit, both physically and sonically.

To review the audio performance, we played various tracks and considering the price, it delivered decent audio.

On tracks with intense sub-bass content like "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, the earphone pushed a good amount of bass. Drums, piano, whimsical handclaps all sounded decent throughout the song.

Vocals were clear at both low and high volume levels and did not sound muffled. Even when you are listening to classical or orchestral tracks, the sound is clear.

The small angled nozzles are ergonomically designed to ensure maximum comfort over longer listening periods and also offers a high degree of isolation.

The earphones also remain distortion-free even at top volume levels.

The microphone worked well with calls and we faced no drops.

The XFit Xf-200 comes in black and frosted-white options and is compatible with iPods, iPhones, iPads, MP3 players, tablets, smartphones and other audio devices that have a 3.5 mm jack.

What does not work?

We hardly found any weakness in XFit Xf-200, although there was slight sound leakage from the earphone when we played music at maximum volume levels.

Conclusion: The earphones are not only a great companion for sports lovers but also for not-so-exercise-friendly music lovers.
