Russia’s Isinbayeva can't work in IAAF Athletes' Commission

Cheboksary (Russia), June 20 (IANS) Two-time Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva will not be able to work in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Athletes' Commission until the All-Russia Athletic Federation's (ARAF) membership is restored, ARAF Secretary General Mikhail Butov said on Monday.

"Now we will not be able to work in the IAAF only because we are Russians," Butov, whose membership in the IAAF Council has been also temporarily suspended, told Tass.

"Our specialists now will not be able to work as judges at international competitions. Yelena Isinbayeva now won’t be able to work in the IAAF Athletes' Commission. All of us have no rights until the AFAF’s membership in the IAAF is restored," he said.

The Council of the IAAF decided at its session in Vienna on Friday to keep in force membership’s suspension of the ARAF.

The suspension means that Russian field and track athletes are currently ineligible to take part in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.

In addition, the Council decided to suspend the work of all Russian citizens in the IAAF commissions, committees and other bodies.
