Delhi cafe treats underpriviledged kids

New Delhi, June 20 (IANS) A group of underpriviledged children had a joyous treat at the capital's newly-opened Cafe OMG, a brainchild of restaurateur Umang Tewari, who believes it's important to give back to the society.

Tewari hosted a lunch for the underprivileged at the Cafe OMG's Connaught Place outlet in collaboration with NGO Plan India that works for the betterment of the underprivileged, said a statement.

“My idea of hosting this lunch with this federation was to spread happiness with food. I just feel it was a day full of satisfaction after we served these kids. One should never take their privileges for granted.

“Thus in association with Plan India, this is our small gesture to give back to the society and we will ensure to do a lot more in the future,” he said.

Plan India, a member of Plan International Federation, is a nationally registered independent child development organisation committed to creating a lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable and excluded children, their families and communities.

For over 35 years, Plan India and its partners have worked towards improving the lives of millions of children by providing them access to protection, basic education, proper healthcare, a healthy environment, livelihood opportunities and participation in decisions which affect their lives.
