Srinagar, June 17 (IANS) A warden at a tribal students hostel here in Jammu and Kashmir allegedly thrashed six girl inmates because they refused to clean her room, police said Friday.
A police officer said an FIR was registered against the warden, identified as Shabnum, of the Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel for "ruthlessly beating up some inmates".
The six victims have received injuries and have been admitted to a hospital. Two were admitted to the Bone and Joint Hospital and four to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar.
Some inmates said the girls refused to clean the warden's room because they were on a Ramadan fast and had to write their exams on Friday.
Authorities suspended the warden and ordered a probe into the incident. A criminal case was slapped against her.
