Tokyo, June 16 (IANS) An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck northern Japan on Thursday.
According to the Japan Meteorological agency (JMA), the quake measured 5.3 on the Richter Scale but reached level 6, EFE news reported.
Its epicentre was recorded at a depth of around 10 km off Uchiura bay, adjoining the city of Hakodate in the extreme south of Hokkaido island.
There were no reports yet of any significant damages to buildings or infrastructure, the JMA added.
