Mumbai, June 15 (IANS) Mumbai City FC on Wednesday signed Argentine striker Matias Defederico for the third edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) football extravaganza.
Known for his pace and his dribbling ability, the 26-year-old Defederico made his professional debut for Argentinian club, Club Atlético Huracán, and shortly after plied his trade for Brazilian powerhouse Corinthians.
In his international career for Argentina, Defederico scored a goal on his debut and has had overseas turnouts in the UAE, Turkey and Chile. This will be his first outing in India.
On being signed by the Mumbai franchise, Defederico said, "I am really happy to have signed with Mumbai City FC. I have heard a lot about the club and the ISL and I am eager to start training with the team and give my all for my teammates and the fans of the club. Mumbai is a great city and I can't wait for this new challenge in my career".
Mumbai City's head coach Alexandre Guimaraes said, "Defederico possesses immense skill and talent, and has played at some of the most challenging leagues in the world. He brings a lot to the team, and we are confident that he will be a huge asset for Mumbai City FC in the upcoming season."
