Berlin, June 14 (IANS) A group representing VDMA, Germany's mechanical engineering industrial association, will visit India in September to explore investment and manufacturing opportunities.
VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbau) represents about 3,100 small and medium-sized companies.
"VDMA would be visiting India from September 19-23, 2016. They will hold high-level meetings with the government representatives. This is a positive support to the Make in India initiative," the Indian embassy here said in a statement on Tuesday.
As many as 500 member companies of VDMA, the largest industry association in Europe, already have operations in India.
The delegation, including VDMA president Reinhold Festge, will organise a Mechanical Engineering Summit in Pune on September 23, the statement said.
India launched 'Make in India Mittlestand' programme last year to ease entry of German 'Mittlestand' companies into the Indian market.
The German term 'Mittelstand' commonly refers to small and medium-sized enterprises.
