Militant killed, three troopers hurt in Udhampur gunfight

Jammu, June 13 (IANS) One militant was killed and three paramilitary troopers were injured in a shootout on Monday in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The gunfight took place on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway after the forces laid an ambush at Kud town following intelligence inputs that some militants were travelling in a bus on the national highway.

The vehicle was stopped near Kud town which is famous for its sweets shops, and the "militants fired at the security forces and in an exchange of fire one militant was killed, also three CRPF men were injured" a security official told IANS here.

The security forces have started combing the area. However the firing has stopped.
