Jammu, June 13 (IANS) One militant was killed on Monday in Udhampur district of Jammu province in a shootout with security forces.
The gunfight took place on the 300-km Jammu-Srinagar national highway after the forces laid an ambush at Kud town following intelligence inputs that some militants were travelling in a bus on the national highway.
The vehicle was stopped. The "militants fired at the security forces and in an exchange of fire one militant was killed," a security official told IANS here.
The gunfight was still going on, the official added.
