New Delhi, June 12 (IANS) The body of veteran journalist Inder Malhotra was on Sunday cremated here. The last rites were performed by his son Anil Revri.
Apart from his family members, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a number of diplomats, journalists and people from different walks of life gathered at the crematorium to pay their last respects to Malhotra.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari sent floral wreaths which were laid on the body.
Malhotra, 86, passed away at a Delhi hospital on Saturday. He was on life support for the last few days at Max Hospital, Saket.
Malhotra began his career with the United Press of India (UPI). He was resident editor of The Statesman and later The Times of India, New Delhi. He also wrote for UK's The Guardian.
He authored the book 'Indira Gandhi: A Personal and Political Biography and Dynasties of India and Beyond'.
At the time of his death, he was working on a book 'Indian Security: Past, Present and Future'.
