Madrid, June 10 (IANS) Spain's King Felipe VI is set to attend the national football team's Euro opener, which will see them take on the Czech Republic on Monday in the French city of Toulouse.
Spain's chief coach Vicente del Bosque and the 23 players who will compete on Monday at the European championship arrived on Wednesday on the island of Ré, where they will be staying during the tournament, Efe reported.
The Royal Palace confirmed on Friday the news of King Felipe VI attending the match.
In the group stage Spain are also going to face Turkey in Nice and Croatia in Bordeaux.
Four years ago, King Felipe, then Prince of Asturias, witnessed Spain's victory in the European Championship final at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, and the Spanish team was received the next day at the Zarzuela Palace.
