Two gangsters held in Delhi

New Delhi, June 8 (IANS) Two gangsters wanted in Haryana and Delhi in several criminal cases, including murder and extortion, have been arrested here, police said on Wednesday.

Gyanender Mandhothia, 29, and Rajiv Dahiya, 39, were taken into custody on June 4 in Bawana in west Delhi.

"Two sophisticated foreign pistols, a countrymade carbine and 66 live cartridges were recovered from them," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said.

The gangsters were arrested during a special drive conducted by a Crime Branch team set up to nab parole and bail jumpers, extortionists as well as criminals wanted in sensational and heinous cases.

Police said Gyanender, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana, was one of the criminals most wanted by Haryana Police and one time second-in-command of Kartar Mandhothia gang.

"Both Gyanender and Dahiya are wanted in several cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion in Delhi and Haryana. Haryana Police had declared a bounty of Rs.1 lakh on his arrest," the officer said.

Investigators said Gyanender had joined hands with Dahiya to eliminate their rival Raju alias Dandu.
