Lucknow, June 8 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday sacked State Liquor Prohibition Council Chairman Kuldeep Ujjwal for allegedly abusing government officials over the phone.
The move came after the recording of a telephonic conversation surfaced in which Ujjwal is heard abusing DPRO Sarvesh Pandey.
Ujjwal enjoyed the status of a minister of state.
Ujjwal had allegedly threatened Pandey that he would lose his job. He also said action would be taken against the district magistrate.
In the conversation, which has now gone viral, Ujjwal is also heard saying that he has been a student leader and knows how to fix officials.
Ujjwal was a possible Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from Baghpat, but it is unlikely that he would get the party ticket now.
