Western disturbance brings welcome dip in Delhi's temperature

New Delhi, June 7 (IANS) Delhiites got welcome relief from the scorching heat on Tuesday as the maximum temperature settled two notches below the season's average at 38 degrees Celsius due to change in the wind pattern, the Met office said.

Asked about the drop in Delhi's temperature, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS that it was because of a change in wind pattern due to western disturbance.

"Change in wind pattern is the prime reason for sudden drop in temperature. The mercury will be similar till June 12 except June 9. The temperature can rise later in the month," the official said.

The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky on Wednesday.

"Thunderstorm and dust storm are likely to occur towards evening and night on Wednesday," it said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 39 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Tuesday's minimum temperature settled at 28.7 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average, while the humidity oscillated between 71 per cent and 39 per cent.

Monday's maximum temperature settled at 40.3 degrees Celsius, normal for the season's average, while the minimum was at 32.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.
