Chandigarh, June 7 (IANS) The Haryana government announced on Tuesday that it has decided to appoint 3,000 former servicemen as Special Police Officers (SPOs) in all districts on contract basis for a period of one year.
A spokesman of the police department said that ex-servicemen of the Indian Army between the age of 25 and 50 years who have not been removed from service due to indiscipline, misconduct or illness, would be eligible.
"The eligible volunteer ex-servicemen would be engaged on a monthly honorarium of Rs 14,000 which would be credited directly to their bank accounts," the spokesman said.
He said that these members of the auxiliary force would not be posted in police stations at their native places, but at police stations near to their homes.
The spokesman said that no written examination and physical test would be conducted for recruitment of these volunteers.
