Imphal, June 4 (IANS) Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) on Saturday cancelled the MCSCC examination (Prelim), 2016 held on May 15, and announced a fresh examination on July 3.
The decision comes after students complained of wrong questions and ambiguous instructions in the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination held on May 15.
This was the second time that the examination has been cancelled this year.
Earlier, the examination was cancelled as the MPSC notification did not specifically mention that a candidate must know Manipuri or at least one recognised dialect in the state, which led to protests by local students, who feared the jobs would be taken by "outsiders".
As a result a fresh notification was issued that made the knowledge of the local language or dialect mandatory.
Meanwhile, a candidate from Andaman & Nicobar Islands who was selected for the post of a junior engineer was asked to back out.
Activists pointed out to IANS that candidates from other educationally advanced states would beat the local candidates. In other words, all the jobs will be cornered by candidates from other states.
