Italy's Conte second highest paid coach at Euro 2016

Rome, June 4 (IANS) Italy’s Antonio Conte is the second highest paid chief coach at the Euro 2016 football championship, just behind Roy Hodgson of England.

Conte will end his two-year association with Italy after the Euro and will take up a lucrative offer at English giants Chelsea.

The former Juventus coach pockets 4.1 million euros ($4.6 million) per year behind Hodgson’s 5 million euros ($5.6 million), reported football-italia.net on Saturday.

Fatih Terim of Turkey earns 3.5 million euros ($3.9 million), while Germany’s World Cup winning Joachim Löw bags 3.2 million euros ($3.6 million). Vicente del Bosque of Spain collects 3 million euros ($3.4 million).

Host nation France pay Didier Deschamps just over 2 million euros ($2.2 million) per year.

At the bottom is Anghel Iordanescu of Romania who earns just 120,000 euros ($136,392) per year.

But one of the most intriguing situations is for Leonid Slutsky of Russia whose wages depend on the team’s performance.
