Washington, June 3 (IANS) Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington next week, a senior US administration official has described the US-India relationship as of incredible significance to the world.
"The US-Indian relationship is of incredible significance, not only to the region but to the world," US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner said in his daily media briefing on Thursday.
"We have a broad bilateral and multilateral relationship with India and look forward to engaging on all those issues," he said.
Describing the breadth of the US-Indian relationship as wide, Toner said it addressed security and has got a strong economic component.
"We're looking to build closer relationships across the board with India, because we see it as a vital partner in the region," he said.
Modi will visit Washington on June 7-8 during the course of which he will meet US President Barack Obama and address a joint meeting of the US Congress.
