Siliguri, June 3 (IANS) As much as 900 kg red sandalwood worth Rs.9 crore in the international market was seized and two persons arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, sources said.
The SSB's 41st battalion seized the sandalwood from Jitupara village on Thursday night.
"Deepak Kumar Singh, second-in-command of the battalion, led the raid and seized the sandalwood stored in a house," said an SSB officer.
One person, a resident of Jitupara village, was apprehended during the raid.
Based on information provide by him, main accused Syed Ibrahi, 41, was nabbed from a hotel in Pradhan Nagar in Darjeeling district early on Friday.
