Gurgaon, June 3 (IANS) Five members of Gurgaon crime branch team led by Pradyuman Yadav, which allegedly shot dead most wanted gangster Sandeep Gadoli on February 7 in Mumbai, has been placed under suspension, a senior police officer said on Friday.
Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Balbir Singh said: "The investigation in the Sandeep Gadoli gunfight case is being carried out by the Mumbai Police. All possible help asked for in the investigation of the encounter has been extended to them by the Gurgaon Police."
"The crime branch team camped in Mumbai for almost 3 weeks in February 2016. The requisite evidence asked for has been handed over to the Special Investigation Team. The witnesses of Gurgaon Police have also been examined by the SIT, which has also recorded their statements," the officer said.
The involvement of some Gurgaon Police Crime Branch officials in the alleged staged gunfight was indicated by the Mumbai Police for the first time in their status report in the Supreme Court on May 27.
Even though no official intimation has been received in this regards from Mumbai Police by the Gurgaon Police so far, the five officials of Gurgaon Crime Branch were placed under suspension on May 30, pending the investigation into the said case.
He said the Gurgaon Police has been extending and will extend all help required under the law to the SIT of the Mumbai Police in this case.
Gadoli carrying a cash reward of Rs.1.2 lakh on his head was killed in an alleged staged gunfight and his body is still lying in a Mumbai mortuary on the orders of the Mumbai High Court.
