Copenhagen, June 2 (IANS) A Swedish court on Thursday sentenced an Islamic State (IS) sympathiser to five years in prison on charges of preparing a terrorist attack.
The Attunda court in northern Stockholm considered that the 20-year-old Swedish convict, under temporary custody since last February, had possessed materials and equipment to make a bomb, and despite getting rid of some of them later, he still posed a threat, EFE news reported.
Also, guidelines to make bombs were found in the convict's house as well as some jihadi propaganda material.
The accused was arrested twice in June 2015 in Turkey while trying to travel to Syria to join the IS ranks.
The prosecution explained that the man's family warned the Swedish authorities that he had adopted extremist ideologies, and was planning to blow himself up to die as a martyr.
