Raipur, June 2 (IANS) Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi on Thursday threatened to quit the party and hinted at floating a new outfit to defeat the state's Raman Singh government.
He also accused the Congress of working as 'Team-B' of the Raman Singh-led BJP government.
"There is a a lot of pressure on me by my supporters, well wishers and friends that if I have to make Chhattisgarh Raman Singh-mukt (free), then I have to quit Congress. Congress is working like 'Team-B' of Raman Singh. There is no hope in them. Otherwise, he (Raman Singh) will win for the fourth time in the state," Jogi told mediapersons on Thursday.
"So I have to take a big step now. I have decided that if I have to defeat Raman Singh, then I'll have to lead from the front. We are getting a lot of support from people," he added.
Jogi's news of quitting the party came after reports of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to be elevated as party chief started doing rounds in political circles.
