Shimla, June 2 (IANS) A group of Indian envoys on Thursday called on Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here and discussed investment opportunities in the state, a statement said.
The envoys which included High Commissioner to Britain Navtej Singh Sarna, Ambassador to Czech Republic Krishan Kumar, Ambassador to Niger R.S. Malhotra and Ambassador to Syria Man Mohan Bhanot, were keen to identify potential investment opportunities in industries, tourism, power, health, food processing and infrastructure, said the statement.
Issues pertaining to air and rail connectivity were also discussed, it said.
The economy of the hill state is highly dependent on horticulture and agriculture, besides tourism and hydropower.
Discussions pertaining to opening of small food processing units were also held.
The main purpose of the visit was to familiarize and get acquainted with the immense potential in various sectors and to attract potential investors, the statement quoting Sarna said.
The delegation would also interact with farmers and representatives of the state tourism department in picturesque tourist spot Chail in Solan district on Friday.
