New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Thursday nudged the Congress over the delay in elevating its Vice President, Rahul Gandhi, saying the party should just do it and let him get on.
"Isn't the Congress fed up of planting 'Rahul's imminent elevation' stories"? Been reading them for years now. Just do it & let him get on," Abdullah tweeted.
His remarks came after a fresh round of speculation that Rahul Gandhi would be elevated party president later this month.
There has been recurrent speculation of Rahul Gandhi taking over the reins of the party from his mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who has led the party for nearly 18 years.
Several party leaders have said that Rahul Gandhi should take over the mantle of party leadership. But the change has not come about so far.
