Over 400 Northern Command soldiers clear prestigious SSB exam

Jammu, June 1 (IANS) As many as 432 soldiers from the Indian Army's Northern Command on Wednesday cleared the written examination for selection as cadet officers, the highest number for all the army commands.

"From Northern Command zone, 432 soldiers have cleared the written exam and will soon be called for the SSB interview for entry to the Army Cadet College (ACC) in Dehradun," Udhampur-headquartered Northern Command spokesman Colonel S.D. Goswami told IANS here.

The ACC, which trains soldiers for commissioning as army officers, also acts as a recruit source for the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

The nature of training at both the ACC and NDA is nearly identical, with both running a three-year degree course in science and humanities.

The added advantage that ACC cadets bring to the army as officers is a deep understanding of a soldier's life and consequently better appreciation of leading armymen.
