London, Jun 2 (PTI) Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has pulled out of the star-studded Soccer Aid 2016 after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

The TV chef announced the news on Facebook, revealing that he had to undergo emergency surgery, and on doctor's orders can no longer take part in the charity match, reported Digital Spy.

"I've been really looking forward to participating in both this weekend's Soccer Aid and this year's #GTR100," he wrote.

"Sadly, following the devastating news that I have ruptured my Achilles, today, on the advice of my doctors I have undergone emergency surgery to fix the tear and can no longer participate in the forthcoming events."

However, he wished "good luck" to his fellow Rest of the World team, adding, "I wish I could be on the pitch with you."

The UNICEF charity event on June 5, will see the Jose Mourinho-managed England go up against the Claudio Ranieri-managed Rest of the World.

The England squad will include the likes of Damian Lewis, Louis Tomlinson, Olly Murs and Robbie Williams, while the Rest of the World will have Michael Sheen, Iwan Rheon, Niall Horan and Sergio Pizzorno, among others.

All donations for Soccer Aid will go towards supporting Unicef.
