New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave its nod for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States for enhanced cooperation in wildlife conservation and combating wildlife trafficking.
With this accord, India hopes to benefit from the expertise of US institutions in wildlife conservation, management of wildlife areas and combating illegal wildlife trade.
"India and the US are endowed with rich biodiversity. As there is scope for both the countries to share professional expertise to address wildlife conservation concerns, the MoU will provide a convenient platform for collaboration," an official statement said.
