Shimla, May 31 (IANS) V.C. Pharka, a 1983 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, is the new Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, it was announced on Tuesday.
He replaced P. Mitra, a 1978 batch officer, who retired on Tuesday.
Pharka, who belongs to Kinnaur district, was earlier Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for three and a half years.
