Ghaziabad, May 30 (IANS) A security guard at the Wave City construction site was shot and seriously injured as he confronted robbers on Monday, police said.
Police said about half a dozen men came to the site being developed on the National Highway-24 in the early hours and started to put iron bars stacked there on to a truck, but the guard, Jai Bhagwan Sharma, tried to resist and shouted for the more help.
Getting angered over his alarm, the robbers opened fire at him, hitting him in the shoulder. However, his timely alarm forced them to flee, leaving the items there.
In the meantime, a police patrol nabbed two of the robbers, who identified themselves as Safruddin and Rafique, residents of Sambhal and Badaun respectively.
"We have registered a criminal case and hunting to arrest the remaining burglars. The security guard was admitted to the local Columbia Asia Hospital where doctors said his condition was critical" said CO (II) Manish Mishra.
