Congress likely to hold brainstorming session next month

New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) In the wake of its debacle in four state assembly elections, Congress is likely to hold a 'chintan shivir' (brainstorming session) next month or before the next parliament session, in a party-ruled hill state, said party sources.

Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand is in the reckoning for the session, said the sources. Congress fared poorly in the recently concluded assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

It is going to be first such exercise after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, in which Congress secured only 44 seats out of 543, recording its worst ever performance.

After the drubbing in four states, Congress leaders have also been talking about revamp in the party leadership and that meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) would be held soon.

The decision to elevate party vice president Rahul Gandhi to the post of president is also doing rounds in the party circles.

In the last chintan shivir held in Jaipur in January 2013, he was elevated as the party vice president and was made the 'face' of the party for the Lok Sabha elections.
