Ricciardo secures maiden pole in Monaco GP

Monte Carlo, May 28 (IANS) Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo clinched the first pole position of his F1 career and team Red Bull’s first since 2013 at the Monaco Grand Prix here on Saturday.

Ricciardo clocked 1 minute 13.622 seconds, two-tenths ahead of second-placed Nico Rosberg of team Mercedes. Rosberg's team-mate Lewis Hamilton was third.

Fourth place went to Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, followed by Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg.

Frerrari's Kimi Raikkonen was sixth.

Team Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz was seventh, just ahead of Force India’s Sergio Perez.

Daniil Kvyat in the second Toro Rosso car was ninth. McLaren’s Fernando Alonso completed the top ten.

Ricciardo's team-mate Max Verstappen will start from the back of the grid after crashing out.
