Bhopal, May 28 (IANS) The opposition Congress and the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) have criticised the Madhya Pradesh government for transferring an IAS officer who praised the country's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
While one IAS officer in Madhya Pradesh was transferred for praising the country's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru another IAS officer was penalised for congratulating Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on her electoral victory.
The Congress on Saturday questioned the state government's action against these two officials.
Congress spokesperson K.K. Mishra said that the government should explain if Barwani DM Ajay Singh Gangwar's Facebook post that praised Nehru violated any service rule.
Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president of the Madhya Pradesh unit Govind Yadav said that the state government likes those who are fond of Nathuram Godse and not those who appreciate Jawaharlal Nehru, Ram Manohar Lohia and Jayaprakash Narayan."
Barwani DM Ajay Singh Gangwar praised first prime minister Nehru and the Gandhi family on his Facebook account following which the government transferred him.
Besides, Narsinghpur DM C.B. Chakrabarty has been served notice and asked to reply for congratulating Jayalalithaa on Twitter.
Gangwar on his Facebook account wrote: "It would have been better had Nehru's mistakes been pointed out. If he prevented India from becoming a Hindu Talibani state in 1947, was that his mistake."
"Was honouring Vikram Sarabhai and Homi Jahangir Bhabha instead of 'intellectuals' like Asaram and Ramdev his mistake," he asked.
