‘Gudh’ official Indian entry in Israel student film fest competition

Kolkata, May 28 (IANS) Nepali language film "Gudh" (Nest) by Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute student Saurav Rai is the official Indian entry in the 18th Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival's international competition segment, organisers said on Saturday.

"The film from India selected to participate in the international competition of the festival titled is named Gudh/Nest from Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute," said a statement from Mya Kaplan and Shira Sznaider, international competition co-ordinators of the film festival.

The festival was established in the film and television department of Tel Aviv University in 1986.

The 28-minute-long "Gudh" is among 42 other selections from films schools across the world including Zurich University of the Arts and Academy of Media Arts Cologne.

Rai hails from Kalimpong in West Bengal's Darjeeling district.

Earlier screened at 69th Cannes Film Festival's Cinefondation competition, "Gudh" is an autobiographical work with the Gorkhaland movement for independent statehood in the Darjeeling hills woven in the backdrop.
