Bengal to bring rules, regulations for Himalayan expedition
Kolkata, May 28 (IANS) The West Bengal government will bring some rules and regulation for the expedition to the Himalayan peaks including the Mt Everest, state Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Aroop Biswas said on Saturday.

"We will bring some rules and regulation to the expedition of the Himalayan peaks in order to avoid fatal incidents," the minister said.

"Three of the (Everest) climbers - Gautam Ghosh, Paresh Nath and Subhas Pal - died during the expedition. We have been trying to bring down their bodies from the height of about 8,000 metres but so far failed due to inclement weather conditions," he said.

 

Debraj Dutta, who completed the summit came back to city on Saturday, while Sunita Hazra who was among the group of climbers who had gone missing during the expedition was flown back to the city.

Biswas who received the wheel chair-occupying Hazara at the airport, said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is monitoring the situation herself.

The body of Bengal climber Rajib Bhattacharya who died on Mount Dhaulagiri during descent in a separate expedition was also brought to the city on Saturday.
