New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) The Chandigarh administration has, on the recommendation of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), paid Rs.3 lakh to a girl gang-raped by five police constables, an official statement said on Friday.
On the commission's orders, all the five constables, working with the Chandigarh Police, have been dismissed from service.
The commission had registered the case on the basis of a complaint on December 24, 2013, that a girl student of Class 10 had been subjected to gang-rape by five police personnel for two months.
"In response to the notices of the commission, it was informed that all the allegations were found true and action had been taken against the guilty police personnel," said the statement.
