New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) The CBI on Friday arrested an undersecretary of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from a person to dispose off a pending complaint against him.
The undersecretary, identified as Hari Ram, was caught red handed from his office during a raid carried out by separate Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) teams at his office in Delhi and residential premises in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh following a complaint.
"It is alleged that the undersecretary had demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant for disposing a complaint in his favour, which was pending against him," CBI spokesperson Devpreet Singh said.
The undersecretary, who will be produced before a court on Saturday, has been booked under charges of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, said the officer, adding the CBI laid a trap after verification of the complaint.
