When the entire universe becomes an art show

New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) In an age when scientists, doctors, intellectuals and philosophers are discovering and conveying the troubles faced by mankind and the various issues that have been inherited by history and culture, artist Tara Khar's upcoming art exhibition reminds you that the universe is beautiful.

"As we all know, it is a very vast and deep themewhich we will never be able to resolve. But to solve its mystery to an extent, I have tried my hand on canvas with colours. To understand it we need to understand it in brief," Khar told IANS of "Universe - made of stories", presented, curated and conceptualized by Jitendra Padam Jain.

"For this project, I used abstract art to bring the entire universe on the canvas," said the artist, who has been working on the series for the past one year.

The theme for this exhibition being "Universe", she initially felt it would be easy to deal with; but then it dawned on her that it will be complex, because various themes "came to my mind like the environment, seasons, planets, the basic elements, natural phenomena, aquatic life and many more. I finally settled for the 'Universe'."

According to her, abstract art is "very unique as each painting tells a different story. The best part about them is that they don't necessarily have something realistic that is being depicted, rather it is the imagination and creativity of the painter that can be seen in such paintings".

She maintained that an abstract artist sees things and the world in a totally different and unique way - and that is what their paintings portray.

"An abstract painting can be as simple as a black line drawn on a paper but only a few can understand what that black line means and what it depicts. These few people are the ones with imaginative minds, who see things in a different way," she said.

The exhibition will be on at the Alliance Francaise De here from May 27 to May 29.
